Did you know that 1 in 5 Australian children are developmentally behind in their language skills before they even start school?1
Speech Pathologist Jane Sweeting, from Yarrawonga Health is delighted to be taking part in the annual Speechie Library Talks campaign to help support the language and literacy development of local children from birth to 5 years.
The free Speechie Library Talk will give parents and carers the opportunity to learn more about developing their young child’s language and literacy skills to set them up for their best success.
Speech Pathologists are professionals with skills and knowledge to help build children’s speech, language and literacy.
Some of the topics to be covered in the Speechie Library Talk presentation include:
- choosing the right books for children from birth to 5 years
- ways parents and carers can help to build language and literacy
- encouraging interactions and
- what to do if your child is having difficulties with language.
The presentation will also include an informative book reading of one of Speech Pathology Australia’s Book of the Year winning books.
